One of the things that Josh Franceschi, Max Helyer Chris Miller, Matt Barnes and Daniel Flint discovered when making their eighth album, Truth Decay, is that you don't really know where you're going if you don't know where you've come from. So it was by re-exploring their discography that the quintet came up with this new album. It's a project that celebrates the hugely successful career of one of the greatest modern British rock bands, while charting an exhilarating course forward.
Looking back over their back catalogue, it's the era between their two opuses 'Hold Me Down' (2010) and 'Cavalier Youth' (2014) that has caught their attention. It was during this period that the band took their first steps into the limelight, blossoming into pulsating punk-pop sounds. Combining the identity they'd forged then with everything they've learned since seemed to be the key.
You Me At Six's mission in making Truth Decay was to remind everyone that there is no band that can match them when it comes to emo-rock. "Truth Decay' is the finished product of a band celebrating the scene they helped build and showing where it can go from here. This new album is You Me At Six at its best. The band show that they know where they've come from, but also where they're going.
The XCERTS
The XCERTS consist of frontman Murray Macleod, bassist Jordan Smith and drummer Tom Heron and released their debut album ‘In the Cold Wind We Smile’ in 2009. The band have toured the world over since their debut, building an incredible fan base of loyal fans and have released five albums to date, including the acclaimed ‘There Is Only You’ (2014) and ‘Hold onto Your Heart’ (2018).
‘Learning How To Live and Let Go’ (2023) was the band’s 5th studio album to date and marked their long awaited return. With it, the band entered a new era, evolving to a more production heavy output, adding a wider range of influences to their arsenal and gaining the confidence to move on from the sound they’ve cultivated over their discography.
