George van den Broek has been releasing plenty of material under the moniker Yellow Days since he was a teenager. But lately, he wanted to remove all the showy clutter and excess from his work and get back to writing songs. Working alone and playing all the instruments, George recorded his latest EP "Slow Dance & Romance" as if he were fifteen again. It results in five of the softest, dreamiest love songs he has ever written, in which he pays tribute to his various influences; from Soul pioneer Ray Charles to his contemporaries Thundercat and Mac DeMarco. This short opus feels like a dramatic change of direction that reaffirms what the artist loves about music: simplicity and soul. Yellow Days presents this EP as the first of many, each built around a specific style ranging from psychedelic rock to jazz funk. He compares them to different houses on the same street.
