"visceral and explosive"
Over the past two decades, Xiu Xiu's prolific output of critically acclaimed albums and collaborations has been consistent and dazzling. The band has released numerous full-length albums to acclaim from publications such as The New Yorker, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, NME and many others. An avant-garde, noisy and noisy post-electro combo, Xiu Xiu stop at nothing to experiment with adventurous sounds. Having spent twenty years researching how to process, disobey, reorganise and empathise with horror, 'Ignore Grief' was born in 2023.
Angela Seo sings on half the album. Jamie Stewart sings on the other half. Somewhere between experimental industrial music and experimental modern classical music. Half is real. The other half is imaginary. Old friend and new member David Kendrick (Sparks, Devo, Gleaming Spires) accompanies Angela Seo and Jamie Stewart in the search for what it might be, what it might mean. The aim of the aesthetic examination is to see if there is a way out on the other side, or if there is even a reason. In either case, there may not be, but simply to turn away would be another act of destruction. Xiu Xiu offers an experience not to be missed, with a vibrant, roaring performance of today's most avant-garde music.
