Born in California and based in Brooklyn, The Mystery Lights are a psychedelic-infused garage rock band who like to blend '60s sounds with more contemporary elements. With trippy, driving melodies and an abundance of sound effects, the band draws inspiration from legendary bands such as the Kinks and Easybeats, while adding their own touch of psychedelia.
The Mystery Lights story began in 2004 when friends Michael Brandon and Luis Alfonso - who share a passion for bands such as The Mc5, Velvet Underground, Dead Moon and The Fall - decided to create their own crazy rock and roll. With performances known for their raw, visceral energy and relentless aggression - leaving very few breaks between songs - they quickly built up a loyal following. Their first single “Too Many Girls” was enthusiastically received by the critics.
The band draws on some of the best elements of the past - the poetic lyricism of classics like Dylan and Cohen, the percussive edge of early garage bands like The Sonics, the punk sensibility of bands like The Dead Boys - and infuses them with an exciting dose of modernity. The end result is something fresh, unique and different.
MOJO AND THE KITCHEN BROTHERS
Mojo and the Kitchen Brothers, an omnium gatherum of eclectically inspired music freaks from Belgium cooking up a late 60's early 70's minded mix of heavy progrock soaked in psychedelia. The smells emanating from their kitchen recall bands like Black Sabbath, Wishbone Ash and Pink Floyd. However, M&TKB is more than a nostalgia trip.
Firmly tuned into the spring of our contemporary psych rockers, Mojo & the Kitchen Brothers' catchy tunes, proggy riffs, deafening drums, roaring basslines and spacy, triple-guitar jams take the listener on a Janus-faced journey through the limbo between past and present.
