Né à Dundalk, en Irlande, le groupe de folk The Mary Wallopers s'est formé autour de Sean McKenna et des frères Hendy. Contre toute attente, ils ont choisi de rester fidèles à leur ville natale, qu'ils adorent. C'est dans une grange aménagée en studio qu'ils ont commencé à reprendre des classiques de la musique traditionnelle irlandaise, des sessions diffusées en direct qui ont donné lieu à leur album 'A Mouthful of The Mary Wallopers'.

Aujourd'hui, le trio initial a évolué en un groupe de sept musiciens, avec l'arrivée de Roisin Barrett à la basse, Brendan McInerney à la batterie, Seamas Hyland à l'accordéon et Finnian O'Connor à la flûte. Leur musique, à la fois rustique et brute, se situe quelque part entre les Clancy Brothers et les Dead Kennedys.

Sam Shackleton, also known by his Gaelic moniker, Sorley the Bard, is a Scottish singer-songwriter and folk artist. His music is greatly inspired by the rich inter-connected musical oral traditions of Scotland, Ireland, and the United States. Strongly influenced by the 1960’s folk revival, his unique sound is a mix of country, old time, traditional, folk, and blues with a Scottish spirit. He was born in Stirling and raised all over Scotland, from the Borders to the Highlands and his music is deeply inspired by the oral tradition, musical culture, and landscapes of Scotland.
