The concert-performance by Sylvie Bouteiller and Damien Leblois is part of a vast sound exploration based on the study of physico-chemical processes, decomposition and corrosion phenomena, and the history of techniques.
Specifically, these artists will introduce the excavating labour of nitric acid etching on transduction elements and pre-amplification circuits into an entropy of sound. This minimal yet dramatic gesture will emerge in space like an atmospheric explosion, unfolding in multiple and unexpected ways over an indefinite period. Each explosion, friction, clatter and beat can be likened to the passage of a needle over an empty vinyl groove, to the sliding of a glacier, to rain, or to the bleak modesty of avant-garde electronic music.
This Live at Museum is scheduled as part of "Every Minute is Lettered", Boris Thiébaut's next exhibition at the Botanique Museum, from 2 September to 29 October 2023. It is part of a musical programme curated by David Jarrin and the artist, in collaboration with the Botanique's music department. The programme includes themes that echo his own practice, such as abstraction and the relationship with landscape (mental, physical and sonic).
