Julia Holter
"her songs exude an elegant calm, but they do not often stay still. They dramatize; they swarm"

American singer-songwriter Julia Holter has a nuanced, theatrical voice that she combines with subtle compositions featuring synthesizers, strings and percussion. With her intensely narrative music, she personally guides you through the various stages of her shows, an approach already illustrated in 2018 on her album 'Aviary'. Two years later, she was featured on the soundtrack to the film "Never Rarely Sometimes Always", confirming her mastery of musical accompaniment in film.

In 2023, Julia Holter once again distinguished herself in a collaboration with the Spektral Quartet and Alex Temple on 'Behind the Wallpaper'. This dreamlike work is based on the transition from A. Temple found in the singer the ideal medium to embody the subject with dignity. Although she is interpreting someone else's story, she does so with a care and respect that few artists can match.

Through her discography and her artistic singularity, Julia Holter proves her mastery of musical accompaniment both on record and in the cinema.

After a hiatus of several years, Amatorski are set to release their new album Curves and Bends, Things Veer on March 1st 2024, once again through the Crammed Discs label.

The album, titled after Timothy Morton's All Art is Ecological, shifts focus from interpersonal relations to exploring the relationships between humans and nature, time and phenomena, inspired by Taoist poetry (translated by Ursula K. Le Guin) and the works of Anna Tsing among others. Recent global events, such as the pandemic, climate change, and the Black Lives Matters protests in 2020, have also influenced the creation of the album.Amatorski live is Inne Eysermans, Timon Persoon, Lucien Fraipont en Christophe Claeys.
