"Un chanteur, c’est avant tout une voix. Celle de Jey Brownie est unique, lui permet d’explorer une palette sonore qui, à l’écoute de son premier EP semble sans limite."
Jey Brownie is a true jack-of-all-trades. He's one of those artists who thrives on diversity and musical versatility, defying genre categorization. It's in his DNA, indeed, but also evident in his new mixtape, "Faits divers." Crafted in close collaboration with producer Flem, this project showcases that the Kinshasa-born singer can step into the spotlight while embracing darker sounds, bringing forth melodies amidst gravity's pull. It's a bold move, but the fourteen tracks of "Faits divers" demonstrate one thing: Jey Brownie knows no bounds.
Following his debut EP titled "Exorde," released in 2022, here he is, effortlessly shifting directions. His desire to explore darkness couldn't find a better partner than Flem, the sonic architect of the 667 collective and a loyal collaborator of rapper Freeze Corleone. When it comes to summoning the depths of Drill music, conjuring nebulous basslines, Flem is the one to call upon. His unique touch beautifully contrasts with Jey Brownie's soft, clear voice, creating a rarely heard contrast that amplifies the tracks, giving them balance and strength.
