JAWHAR (LIVESTREAM)

Based in Belgium but Tunisian by birth and at heart, Jawhar Basti crafts songs inspired as much by the popular music of the Maghreb, as well as the dark rock of Timber Timbre or the silky folk of Nick Drake. With the latter, he shares a delicate, whispered, aerial voice, and sings of love, loss and the disillusions of the Arab Spring. He write his own poetry in Tunisian language, a mixture of Arabic, Italian and French and is nourished by a wonderful melancholy.

The summer is going to be busy at Botanique! 16 bands and artists who would have played in our venues this spring or autumn will have the opportunity to rehearse on a large stage for three days as part of the artists in residence summer programme. At the end of their residence, they will play an exclusive concert that will be broadcast live on our Facebook and Youtube pages. It may not fully give you the feeling of a live performance, but this is the best we can do for now! Please make a contribution if you can; all the money will go to the artists.
