"after much consideration, i’ve decided to cancel this run of UK/Europe shows. i’m so sad to miss seeing your faces and singing with you💔also gutted to miss performing alongside the incredible @madamegandhi!
thank you to everyone who bought a ticket or who planned to buy — the shows were selling so well & your support means absolutely everything to me.
it would be easier to say “due to unforeseen circumstances,” but a dear friend encouraged me to be more transparent. many people don’t realize that musicians often tour at a loss — we do it not because it makes money but because we love to connect with people who listen to our music and who show so much love and support for our art. i always understand the music deeper through sharing it live in rooms with you all, that process is such a gift to me.
it’s a huge investment to tour with a band + crew of our size, and i’ve been fortunate to make that investment many times. but the landscape has changed drastically since 2020. between renting gear, transportation and accommodation costs, even if we sold out every show the financial burden wouldn’t be practical to take on.
thank you so much for your understanding & for being along with me on this journey! more soon🩵"

On her new album Water Made Us, Chicago musician and poet Jamila Woods shines anew as she asks the question, what does it mean to fully surrender into love? Across Water Made Us, Jamila embraces new genres as she wades through the exhilarating tumult of love's wreckage and refuge. This reminds us that at its best love is a warm, still ocean. And at its worst love can be a riptide that takes us so far away from ourselves we can hardly find our way back, hardly even remember how to swim. Yet Jamila surrenders to this surf because maybe even the most painful endings can in fact be an invitation that calls her back home, back to shore, back to herself.
