Hilary Woods’ world is a fascinating one: at once mysterious, dark and dangerous, as well as intimate, inviting and deeply personal. Having previously been a part of alternative rockband JJ72, Woods has truly found her identity as an artist since going solo. From 2014’s debut EP ‘Night’ onward, she has been creating ominous, bewitching music, using acoustic and electronic elements to create atmospheres in which you love to disappear. This year sees the release of her second album ‘Birthmarks’, which again affirms her beguiling songwriting. It was written during an intense pregnancy, and delves deeper into themes of fear of the unknown in an ever-changing world, as well as the growth of the self and of the life within her. A.A. Williams se fait connaître en 2019 avec un excellent EP sorti sur le label indé londonien Holy Roar. L’occasion de découvrir en quatre titres, majoritairement acoustiques, la mélancolie délivrée par la jeune femme. Avec des compositions minimalistes intégrant des éléments de musique classique, de metal et de post-rock, A.A. Wiliams propose un travail éthéré ponctué de sonorités plus brutales et dissonantes. Après avoir collaboré avec l’ensemble japonais MONO et nous avoir réjouit lors du confinement avec des réinterprétations d'une série de titres dont « Into my Arms » de Nick Cave et « Every Day Is Exactly the Same » de Nine Inch Nails, A.A. Williams revient, cette année, avec un nouveau single intitulé « Melt », extrait de son prochain album à venir « Forever Blue » signé chez Bella Union.
