Conseil de la Musique & BotaniqueDU F. DANS LE TEXTE 2020
Last February, a jury made up of professionals from the music sector selected the four finalists at the Maison des Musiques in Brussels. The final will be held in the Botanique’s Rotonde, on September 19th, 2020.
The four finalists:
20.00: Estelle Baldé
20.45: Brèche de Roland
21.30: LO.
22.15: Krego
The winner of the Grand Prize will be given an assortment of assets to get their project off to a flying start. In addition to the now traditional stage performances offered by the various summer festivals (and other venues), the Conseil de la Musique will now provide the first prize-winning artist or group different ways to support them on their way to professionalizing their artistic approach.
Support will include financial aid for recording, different kinds of coaching (artistic, stage and management, project management), and extra funding (about € 10 000 to be shared). The partners of the competition will add other prizes on top of that.
Estelle Baldé
Estelle Baldé is a young Belgian-Guinean artist who creates her own soul universe fused with bossa-nova and Afro influences. Inspired by nature and travel, she’s an artist with a global background who celebrates good vibes. After a few experiences on stage and some wonderful interactions with audiences, this singer-songwriter discovered a new ambition. Having just graduated in international law, Estelle Baldé now aspires to live her musical passion to the fullest.
Brèche de Roland
For years, Brèche de Roland was Coraline Gaye’s musical laboratory, an outlet for her creativity, a solitary space for experimentation with vocals and writing that gradually emerged from its seclusion. Thanks to encounters with and enthusiastic reactions by musician friends such as Fabrice Detry (Fabiola, Endz), Nicolas Arnould (Françoiz Breut), Thomas Van Cottom (cabane, Soy un Caballo) and Simon Bériaux (Hibou, Les Juliens), Coraline was able to collaborate with different people, resulting in 5 self-produced tracks. It’s music that creates a refined atmosphere where Coraline’s voice shines, oscillating between restraint and power. While the songs were composed on piano, they’ve been enriched by the precision and inventiveness of Nicolas Arnould’s guitar and Fabrice Detry’s arrangements, giving them depth, and inviting you to escape from daily life for a while.
LO.
LO. is a young French-Belgian pianist from Brussels. Through his piano play, he translates his message into melodies that dance on the borders of jazz, slam and classical music. He evokes Saez’s existentialist laments and a teenage rage once embodied by a group like Fauve, but infuses those with great sensitivity. His melancholy songs work almost therapeutically, and reveal an intimacy against the backdrop of a disillusioned everyday life.
Krego
As a writer, composer and passionate self-taught musician, Krego is at home in the jazz and hip-hop scenes, but in the dance and theatre world as well. With influences ranging from Charles Aznavour to Kanye West, and Britney Spears to Florence + the Machine, Krego’s eclectic style requires a bit of an open mind to truly appreciate. Trying to define his personal style, he seeks a balance between the efficiency of pop, the atmospheric ambiances of alternative music and the rhythms of black music. In 2017, he participated in The Voice and got to work with Slimane and Vitaa. As a digital native, he often gets noticed with his videos on Twitter and Instagram.
