Bird
Janie Price aka "Bird" is an award winning half Irish, half English singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She is based between Tuscany Italy and London UK. She has released 5 albums, “The Insides”, “ Girl and A Cello”, “Figments Of Our Imagination”, ‘Beat” and award winning soundtrack “Wider Than The Sky”.
She started her classical music training on cello aged six and consequently played in UK youth orchestras before beginning her professional career aged 18 with her first recording session composing and recording strings for a UK rap act. Bird’s skill as a classically trained musician has also led to various successful stints as a session musician and writer. She has composed and recorded string sections for the likes of Just Jack and played live with Brit and Ivor Novello award winning songstress Emeli Sandé, as well as touring with artists including the internationally acclaimed violinist Vanessa Mae. As a song writer she has written many renowned artists internationally including, Charlie Sexton (Bob Dylan), Darryl Jones (The Rolling Stones, Miles Davis), Andy Dunlop (Travis), Ally McErlaine (Texas), James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers).
No stranger to Belgium, she has also written on three albums for Belgian national treasures Hooverphonic (she also performed two tracks on hit album “In Wonderland” including the title track and hit single “I Like The Way I Dance”). This December she will also support her friend Daan Stuyven on part of his tour launching his new album which was recorded at Bird’s recording studio in Italy and on which she also plays some cello and sings backing vocals. She also writes with hit Belgian composer Jeroen Swinnen who co-wrote “What The Night Knows” with Bird which also features on her soundtrack album and spent 12 weeks playlisted on Belgian radio stations Radio 1 and RTBF Jam this summer.
