Botanique"a triumph of power pop, a densely layered, witty, blithe, and beautiful record that sets a new benchmark for the genre"
Quality allows for experimentation, and Alvvays is proof of that. The Toronto-based quintet returns with "Blue Rev" and it was more than worth the wait. Orchestrated by star producer Shawn Everett (Julian Casablancas, The War on Drugs, Alabama Shakes), it is a monumental piece of power pop! For Alvvays do not follow the rules... they make the rules. And this time, they incorporated some elements of shoegaze and 90's indie into their noise-rock sound. Named after a Canadian drink made of sugar, caffeine, and vodka, "Blue Rev" charms with its joyful melodies and bursts with its unique structures and harmonic experiments. Receiving accolades from Pitchfork (8.8 Best New Music), The Guardian, NME, DIY, and Stereogum, Alvvays seems to have reached the top. Do not miss their triumphant lesson of power pop at Botanique!
KATIE MALCO
Armed with only an old telecaster that's seen better days and her voice, UK songwriter Katie Malco has toured the UK and mainland Europe extensively with the likes of Julien Baker, Jenny Lewis, Bob Mould, Fenne Lily, Laura Stevenson, Dawes and The Joy Formidable. Malco released her debut album, 'Failures' in 2020 on 6131 Records (Julien Baker) - a brutally honest coming of age record that details Malco's adolescence, sofa surfing and leaning on intoxicants to get through.
